Momma,

We have been seeing so many miracles lately! We have been getting HQ referrals left and right. There are so many people that feel the void in their lives and are seeking for more. We have had tons of opportunities to teach and to meet wonderful people. I am so grateful that the Lord is keeping me busy.

We are still balancing the 2 areas, and it has been a lot of work, but also a lot of fun! Sisters Tafiti and Hatch are incredible missionaries and I am so grateful for their love of the Gospel and their love for this work.

Letter for week of December 28th 2015

Momma,

We have been seeing so many miracles lately! We are receiving a lot of referrals from members and from people requesting Bibles. We are helping to prepare 5 people for Baptism for January and February right now. They are all amazing people with a strong desire to follow the example of their Savior.

Last night we went to read the Book of Mormon with the Lady from Tanzania that speaks Swahili. She read the whole chapter in Swahili as we followed along in English. It was so neat! She understood the importance of the Book of Mormon and what she will receive as she reads it, and prays about it. It was also really cool to hear her read in Swahili! I have now read the Book of Mormon in 5 languages with investigators: Portuguese, French, Spanish, Farsi, and Swahili. The church is true all over the world!

This Sunday I had the opportunity to speak in Sacrament meeting. I didn’t think that I would be so nervous, but I was shaking when I got up to the pulpit. You think I would be over that by now. I spoke about goals and plans, and apparently it went pretty well. One of the men in the ward’s father was visiting and he pulled me aside after Sacrament and said that he really enjoyed my talk and that “I must have great parents that taught me well. ” I would agree with that!
It was pretty cool to hear the way the Spirit touched the hearts of those who heard my talk. Quite a few people said that they had never liked setting goals, or new years resolutions before, but they realized that they needed to start this year. It always amazes me how much the Spirit can personalize teaching to the hearts of so many people at once.

Sister Tafiti and Hatch say hello! We are having a lot of fun together, and we are seeing a lot of miracles. We are covering 2 areas right now, and I am constantly amazed with how much work we are able to accomplish in such a short time. The Lord is truly blessing us to be a part of this work.

Missionary Letter for week of December 22nd 2015

Momma,

We have been receiving a lot of referrals this week, which is a MIRACLE! We have been praying incessantly for people to teach, and the Lord is POURING out his blessings upon us! One of the Referrals is an amazing woman. She is almost 70 and she is a generational Presbyterian. She did not agree with some of the recent changes in the church, so she left. She has been attending a Baptist church recently. She had a major accident that has left her with a physical disability, and now she does physical therapy 2 or 3 times a week. Turns out her PT is a great member missionary! He has given her a Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price, and King James Bible. She loves them all and knows that they are true. She studies out of them about 2 hrs a day. When we met with her she said she has already made her decision and is ready for the next step (baptism).

We also have done a lot of caroling this week. We went with the youth on Wednesday, and it was great! There were some grinches, but there were also some people who absolutely loved it! One man came out and tried giving us money. It was pretty silly to see that.

Then on Thursday we got a surprise! We have a third companion for the next 3 weeks. 🙂 Sister Hatch’s companion finished her mission and went home early for school. Sister Hatch is awesome. She has been out for only 4 months, but is a superstar.

We got to go to the Temple to do baptisms for the dead this week with our District, the Vietnamese branch, and 2 recent converts of the Elders. The one Sister is 86 years old, and was just baptized last month. She is an incredible woman that I just adore. We went to be with her on her first temple trip.
It was so neat to listen to the ordinances of Baptism and Confirmation in Vietnamese. The gospel is true in every language! It brought a greater depth and understanding to me of the personal nature of the gospel.

It has really been an amazing week, and we have been extremely blessed. We are working nonstop, super hard every day and I feel like there is still never enough time in the day!

Missionary Letter for week of December 14th 2015

Momma,

When we teach people who speak another language, we get the materials in their native language and just teach really simply. We also try to bring someone with us who is fluent in both languages, which is always a HUGE help. Farsi is a language that people from Persia, Iran, Iraq etc speak. They are usually Muslim or Islamic. We have to be very careful when teaching them because of everything that is happening in their country. They and their families could be in serious trouble if they convert to Christianity. Swahili is a language that is spoken in some parts of Africa. I know it is in Swaziland and Kenya, but possibly other parts as well.

We have been trying to meet a lot of people, as always. This week was pretty good for that. We went out to some different apartment complexes and spent time talking to every person we saw. We met a lot of people, and it was a lot of fun.

This weekend we had our ward Christmas party, and it was amazing! It was Texas themed and so they had a little program with fiddlers. There were 8-10 kids from the ward ranging in age from 4 to 12 that played the violin. It was amazing, and so fun! Then all the kids in the ward went back and put on costumes and did the nativity for us. It was so sweet. There were a few non-member kids that had never heard the story before, so it was cool to see them learning as they acted it out.

These last few weeks I feel have been so good for me. The Lord is showing me a lot of my weaknesses and areas to improve. I still have so much to learn about being a missionary, and I am doing all I can to stay focused on helping others come unto Christ.

Missionary Letter December 7th 2015

Momma,

Did you watch the Christmas devotional last night? If not, go check it out! It was amazing! 🙂
Also, did you see who said the opening prayer????
My favorite talk was by Elder Bednar. He always gives great insight and I loved to visualize the experience from that perspective, so powerful!

This weekend our Bishop and his Brother (and their family and community) put on a live nativity. It was a great experience and we had a great turn out.

We had so many blessings this week! We found 5 new investigators. 2 are Farsi speaking and 2 are Swalihi speakers. I tell you, this area is so diverse- it is amazing! I love it.
