Letter from August 4th, 2014

Cool fact for the day: Sister Watkins and I met Michael Jackson and are teaching him the restoration tonight! Cool, huh? Oh and when we went through the formers book we saw that Joseph Smith got baptized. Haha.

It has been a good, hard week. We have decided that the Lord really does want us to sacrifice the North part of our Area and just put all of our effort into the South. There are no formers down there, so we are starting out fresh. It is a lot of finding and doing what we call O.Y.M-ing (Open Your Mouth). It is hard and always awkward, but it is super rewarding when you find people that are willing to listen and have you come back to teach them more. We are really praying to find some families to teach right now because we know how important families are and it would be such an amazing opportunity to help a family get sealed in the temple and become a forever family! I am so grateful that we are a forever family. I can’t imagine not being with you all for the rest of eternity.

I have had some SUPER awesome studies this week and have learned a lot! One of them started in Mosiah 8:13. What is a seer? When we read the rest of the chapter and reference the bible dictionary (and many other scripture) we learn what an incredible blessing and opportunity it is that we have a living prophet on the earth today. There are many people here in Texas that do not understand why a living Prophet is needed, but it really is crucial. ALL things can be revealed to us through the prophets and they are a great benefit to their fellow man. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the Prophet on the earth today and that he knows God. He has the power and authority from God to direct the affairs of His church on the earth. I am so grateful for the Prophets and the Apostles. I know that the best way we can learn and know the mysteries of God is through the prophets. By reading scripture and listening to conference we can come to know our Heavenly Father, and our Savior Jesus Christ, and we can know all things necessary for our salvation.

I love you all so much and pray that everything is well at home. Thank you for your prayers. I will try to get some pictures sent today, but if I can’t get it to work, I will just print some off and send to you later. Sorry about that. You will get some eventually! haha. Love you!

Sister Elliott
